About

“We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves”

[Galileo Galilei]

At JD Risk Solutions, our model is to impart the skills and experience we have developed through years of working in the front line. We are a specialist consulting firm focusing on risk management, fintech advisory, regulatory change, and resource optimisation – all skills that have been developed by working in senior roles in banking and serving on external boards and committees.

JD Risk Solutions works in partnership with its clients helping them to be successful rather than telling them how to attain success.

Dipak Chotai, is the founder of JD Risk Solutions, and is a veteran of risk management. He was most recently a Managing Director at UBS reporting into the Global Head of FX, Rates and Credit as the Head of Risk Management for the fixed income business.

Throughout his 17-year tenure at UBS, Dipak has occupied roles within technology, middle office, and front office. Notably, Dipak was a senior trader on the XVA desk during the financial crisis where he was instrumental in risk managing and closing out parts of the bank’s bilateral portfolio facing Lehman Brothers.

As the head of Risk Management for the fixed income business, Dipak’s team had to oversee all Market and Documentation Risks (including ISDA’s, CSA’s, and CDEA’s) across the business, executing hedges to mitigate tail risks, and evolving the risk management of the business by using the latest data analytical methods to assess the velocity and liquidity of trading positions. Dipak was also responsible for FRTB implementation for the business sitting on cross business committees, industry working groups and initiatives.

With his team monitoring scarce resource utilisation and capital optimisation, his group ran education sessions for sales and trading, and worked closely with fintechs including compression providers to help develop solutions to improve capital efficiency. This also led him to run several roadshows for clients globally educating them on the impact of regulation and helping them to optimise their execution models to continue to best access market liquidity.

Dipak was part of the IB leadership team, and was a member of the EMEA FX, Rates, and credit management committee.  Dipak has also served on CCP Risk Committees and Default Management Committees, and on the boards of OTCDerivNet and CreditDerivClear.
